Unlike Mount Tai that used to be frequentedby pilgrims, Mount Hua was not well visited bypilgrims as the roads up the mountain were extremely dangerous. Back then, however, thosewho wished to enjoy longevity ventured in Mount Hua quite a lot because numerous herbs, rare ones in particular, grew in the mountain. Since cable cars were installed in Mount Hua inthe 1990s, the number of visitors has increased dramatically.
