Undoubtedly, it is a good sign that people are shunning away from overestimating one’s appearance, which sometimes can take a toll on ignoring what’s really matters to an individual’s value — the inner beauty.
It is a common phenomenon that physically-attractive people are more likely to be treated better in first contact thanks to their look, but the truth is that the charisma, intelligence, and considerate personality are the defining qualities of one person, which make others to stick around. When people are worshipping the so-called perfect body and appearance, irrationally pouring a vast amount of money to gain an ideal appearance through plastic surgery, they are actually escaping from what they really should do — building on their inner self, such as examining their self advantages and disadvantages for better development, cultivating critical thinking, and keeping up with the latest development trend. A blind pursuit of the perfect appearance not only undermines their personal life, but also encourages a superficial social environment, which in the long run is detrimental to our nation’s prosperity.
