As is vividly shown in the picture, the mother puts a bowl of Chinese character soup in front of her little son, which implies that the mother asks her son to learn Chinese for his future. Nowadays there is a dramatic increase in the number of people who learn Chinese in foreign countries, such as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Many different reasons contribute to the craze for Chinese learning. Firstly, in the past decades, China has witnessed a dramatic improvement in economy. Chinese political and economic influences prompt more foreigners to learn Chinese. Secondly, with the great leap in economy, China has created more job opportunities. As a result, if a foreigner knows Chinese very well, he or she will have better opportunities to get promoted. Finally, the unique Chinese culture also attracts great attention from foreigners.
