The Changjiang river basin accommodates one third of China’s population. Changjiang plays a prodigious role in China’s history, culture and economy. Nearly 20% of China’s GDP is produced here. During the past thousand years, Changjiang has played a vital part in irrigation, transport and industrial production. Besides, there locates the greatest hydropower station in the world.
