1）食品安全的重要性（The importance of food safety）
Food safety related to people’s health and it concerns about people’s basic livelihood. As the Chinese proverb says, “Food is the paramount necessity of the people.” People obtain nutrients from food, but if the food becomes unsafe, it may cause serious health problems. People may contract all kinds of disease, some of which can be fatal. To solve this problem, we have three strategies here: 1) to improve the overall awareness of food safety: when buying food, people need to see the production date, manufactures, and the guarantee period, etc. ; 2) to improve the standards as soon as possible: a better regulation mechanism, legal and standard system as well as technical support for food safety should be set out; 3) to improve the moral qualities of the whole nation.

Food safety has always been a severe issue in our nation. Problems leading to food safety are as follows: 1) using raw materials of poor quality in the food manufacturing process; 2) adding toxic substances; 3) excessive use of food additives; 4) abusing of chemical additives and so on. There are many reasons that cause this problem. It is regulators, producers, and even consumers who share the responsibilities.
As Confucius instructed: better late than never. Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend. The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corporations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again. I am firmly convinced that through our conbined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead.
