How should parents help children to be independent?

 

As China’s one child policy, most parents are anxious about their children’s future, recently there has been a discussion about how to make a child to be independent. In my opinion, there are three key points can be adopted.

First, make the child to try his best. If your child falls down, as parents, don’t be hurry to provide support. You can encourage him to stand up by himself. Try to encourage your child to practice doing something he can fulfill, such as putting on his clothes, or washing dishes after meals. Second, give the child self-confidence. As parents, you cannot complain about your child’s failure. You can tell them your expectations, and make your child knowing that no one is perfect. Last but not least, give praise whenever possible. Don’t demand too much from your child. Try to appreciate your child’s talents, and encourage them to overcome the problems by themselves.

All in all, the sooner the good habits of independence are developed, the better he will be in the future. It’s never too early to make a child to be independent, which will reward his or her efforts throughout life.
